Accident & Emergency
SHO Teaching every Wednesday 9.00am – 11.00am. Every Thursday 4.00pm - 6.00pm in the A & E Seminar Room which includes Tutorials, Case Presentations, Clinical Audit. ‘On the Spot’ teaching by Senior. Full induction programme. Regular appraisal and assessment of performance.
Department of Anaesthesia & Intensive Care
Monthly half study/audit day - 9 per year (see Audit dates). Tuesday 8.00am Obstetric/ITU alternate weeks. Every Friday at 12.30-1.30pm Clinical meeting. 1.30-4.30pm Protected tutorial time in the Department of Anaesthesia Seminar Room. Appraisal system in place.
ENT
Monthly Regional meetings during academic terms at varying locations within the Region. Regular audit half days. Weekly meeting Friday pm. MK/Kettering/NGH.
Haematology
Mondays 2.00 – 3.00pm in McMillan Unit and Fridays 1.30 – 2.30pm in Postgraduate Centre.
Histopathology
Histopathology/General Surgery/Breast Screening.

Thursdays 11.30-1.00pm Upper GI, Lower GI, Pancreatic, Biliary & Non-cancer. 2.00-3.00pm (1st Thursday) Skin Cancer & non-cancer. Fridays 11.30-12.30pm Urology Cancer. All held in the Postgraduate Centre.
Microbiology
Lab meeting only. Alternate Mondays at 12.00-1.30pm held in the Department of Microbiology.
House Officer Training (HOTS)
Every Tuesday 12.00-1.30pm in the Postgraduate Centre for Medical and Surgical House Officers.
Medical
Tuesdays 2.00-4.00pm SHO Teaching (Bleep Free Protected Time) held in the Postgraduate Centre. This programme is primarily aimed at SHOs to help with Part I and Part II MRCP examination, although the House Officers and Medical Registrars are welcome to attend. The tutorials on the first and last Tuesday of each month are linked with the GP Vocational trainees. MRCP II Clinical teaching prior to exam, as required. X-ray Teaching 1.30 – 2.00 held in the Postgraduate Centre. Wednesdays 12.45-1.45pm Grand Round (Bleep Free Protected Time) held in Postgraduate Centre. Fridays 12.30pm Journal Club in the Postgraduate Centre (See also Haematology).

DRCOG
Tutorials every Thursday at 4.30pm on Labour Ward. Contact Mr P Haynes, Secretary Ext 3232 for details and programme. Tutorials 8.30am in the Labour Ward or Luing Cowley every day except Thursday. Saturday mornings MRCOG Tutorials by arrangement - contact Mr C B-Lynch, Ext 3218.
Orthopaedics
Clinical meeting - Mondays 8.00-8.30am in the Department of Orthopaedics Seminar Room. Orthopaedic teaching session - Thursday 12.30-1.30pm in Wards 1 & 2 Seminar Room, Department of Orthopaedics. Fracture and X-Ray Review tutorial - Fridays 8.00am in Plaster Room. Medical Audit - 9 per year. (See Audit Dates). Combined meeting with Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre - Wednesdays at 2.00pm at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre. All junior staff have formal appraisals at six monthly intervals plus an entry appraisal on arrival. The specialist registrar appraisals are co-ordinated with the appraisals at Oxford.
Paediatrics
Tuesday 12.30-2.00pm SHO Teaching. Wednesday 12.30-2.00pm Clinical Presentations. Meetings held in Paediatric Seminar Room Ward 4. Ext 3616 for details. Third Tuesday of month Perinatal mortality/morbidity meeting, PGEC 12.00-2.00pm MRCP/DCH teaching by arrangements with Consultants.
Community Child Health Department meetings with PCT – weekly meetings are held in the Child Health Department on a Thursday afternoon and include topic discussions, case presentations and audit. One of these sessions per month is a joint meeting with DCAPS. The meetings are usually held in the meeting room PCT, HQ and start at 2.30pm.
Postgraduate Meetings
Every Thursday during term time 12.45-1.45pm in the Lecture Theatre. Coffee and sandwiches from 12.00pm in Common Room. Programmes circulated each term.
Psychiatry
12.00-2.00pm every Thursday in the Campbell Centre - Academic Programme for Junior Doctors.
Day Release Course at Oxford for membership exams on Tuesday afternoons.
Formal appraisal for SHOs four months into each placement.
Radiology Department
CT Haematology held on a fortnightly basis in X-Ray Department/MRI. CT Neurology held on 2nd Thursday of each month in the MRI Department.
Paediatric X-Ray meeting held on alternate Tuesday 4.00-5.00pm on Ward 4.

Urology training days. Formal appraisal undertaken.
Vocational Training Course for General Practitioners
2.00-4.00pm every Tuesday in the Postgraduate Centre (first and last meetings of the month jointly with Medical SHOs). Programmes circulated.
