Hospital Rotations
Introduction
There are 4 places available each year on the Milton Keynes Vocational Training scheme, all of them starting in August. Each rotation offers experience in medicine, obstetrics and gynaecology and paediatrics, with a choice of accident and emergency or psychiatry for the other post.
All posts contain one week of study leave in General Practice to allow the SHOs time for orientation in General Practice, and to reflect on their learning needs in relation to their final career choice. This is also an ideal opportunity for midterm reviews and appraisal.
Unlike many hospitals, the Vocational Training Scheme SHOs are released for the VTS half-day release course on Tuesday afternoons. This allows them to develop a greater understanding of General Practice and an insight into the skills and attributes valued in their career choice.
